Make a snow globe, make a friend at our instax™ community events

Dark by half four and cold enough for a second jumper, so another weeknight on the sofa feels like the obvious plan. Or you could spend it making a snow globe with a room full of people you haven't met yet.

Series three of Fellow Humans x instax™ lands this winter, with two evenings, one in Manchester and one in London. You'll build a snow globe from scratch, get hands-on with the brand-new instax SQUARE 2™ instant camera to capture your evening, and head home knowing a few more people than you did at 7pm. Plenty of people come on their own and plenty bring a mate, and nobody minds which.

Book your space now.

What to expect on the night

Doors open at 7pm and you're out by 9pm. Nobody sits down straight away. The evening kicks off with some mingling and a get-to-know-you game, then Fellow Humans pair you with the person in the room you're most likely to get on with, using what they call relationship science. So you'll know at least one name before the glitter even comes out.

Roughly how the evening runs:

  • Arrive and start chatting to whoever's next to you
  • Make your snow globe
  • Take pics on the instax SQUARE 2™ instant camera
  • Tuck into festive cake flavours and grab a soft drink from Dalston's
  • Get matched with the person you're most likely to click with
  • Head off with your snow globe, your instax pics and a few new contacts

Early on, everyone gets a pic taken, or teams up with a partner to take each other's photo. Add a caption or the date along the bottom of the print and keep it next to you while you build. You might end up designing your snow globe around it, whether that's a tiny version of you in the middle or a colour scheme borrowed from the jumper in the shot.

Later, you'll glue one of your prints onto an A5 card and write something underneath. It might be something to remember about this year, something you're looking forward to, or one thing you want to do more of in 2027. Pop it on a ledge at home and it'll still make you smile next December.

Making your snow globe

Everyone builds their own snow globe from scratch, then decorates it with snow, little characters and as much glitter as feels reasonable (usually more than you'd think). We'll talk the whole table through it, so you don't need to be crafty. Seeing ten very different snow globes come out of the same pile of supplies is half the entertainment.

Everything you need is provided by us, so there's nothing to buy beforehand. Just bring yourself, and we'll send you home with a Fellow Humans x instax™ tote for your snow globe and pics.

What these nights are

Fellow Humans started in Glasgow in January 2024, with a group of strangers, a few candles and a tray of cinnamon buns. Since then they've grown into a community running events in 20 cities, and their thinking hasn't changed much. Give people something to do with their hands and the conversation tends to sort itself out.

Our bit is the photos. instax™ makes the most sense when prints are getting passed round a table, and that's what these nights are set up for. Every print from the evening is a small piece of the night you can take home, or give to someone you met an hour earlier.

A few of our team will be there too, taking pics through the evening and showing off the instax SQUARE 2™ instant camera. Come and say hi if you'd like a closer look

The instax SQUARE 2™ threading through it all

Every pic of the evening comes from the instax SQUARE 2™ instant camera. Press the shutter, the print comes out on its own, and you can caption it there and then.

Square prints and snow globes are a natural match, and there's room for you and your new mate in the frame too.

The instax SQUARE 2™ instant camera also has a mood filter switch. Flick it to Warm for a golden glow on your snow globe, Cool for crisp, blue-toned colour, or Off for the classic instax™ look. Add instax™ SQUARE Soft Haze film (sold separately) for a softer, dreamier finish that suits a wintry theme.

If you pick up an instax SQUARE 2™ instant camera of your own, you'll need instax™ SQUARE film, sold separately in packs. On the night, we've got the film covered.
